A team built on trust, experience and accessibility.
Alberta Workplace Solutions is an employee benefits consulting firm built around long-term relationships, not quick transactions.
Our team brings together decades of experience, in group benefits, insurance, and group savings planning. We’ve worked through market cycles, regulatory changes, claims challenges, and real life situations that don’t show up in brochures.
What hasn’t changed is how we work:
We believe a benefit plan should:
Scott Walls BMgt., RHU
Broker/Advisor

Scott is the owner of Alberta Workplace Solutions Inc., where he specializes in group benefits and group retirement savings as a broker advisor. A graduate of the University of Lethbridge Management program, Scott brings both strategic insight and a client-focused approach to his work. Prior to entering the life insurance industry in 1998, Scott spent nine years as a CPGA Golf Professional, developing a strong foundation in relationship-building, discipline, and performance excellence. In 2006 he purchased Alberta Workplace Solutions Inc. and has successfully grown the group insurance brokerage into a trusted partner for organizations seeking tailored employee benefits and retirement solutions. Scott is passionate about helping employers design competitive, sustainable programs that support their teams’ financial well-being. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, skiing, and traveling — and is now a proud grandparent, a role he considers his most rewarding yet.
Norris Hironaka BSc., CFP, CHS, CEA
Broker/Advisor

Norris Hironaka joined Alberta Workplace Solutions in 2012, bringing with him decades of experience in designing and implementing employee benefit and group savings plans. His career in the insurance industry began in 1998, and since then he has built a strong reputation for helping organizations develop tailored, sustainable benefits solutions.
Raised on a farm, Norris developed an early appreciation for the agricultural sector—an influence that continues to shape his understanding of hard work, community, and the unique needs of rural and business clients alike. After graduating from university, he began his professional career at an accounting firm, where he gained valuable insight into corporate and personal taxation. He then worked at a prominent southern Alberta law firm as an administrator for 16 years, where he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. This diverse background in accounting, law, and financial planning gives him a well-rounded perspective when advising clients on complex benefits strategies.
A dedicated community supporter, Norris has consistently given back through volunteerism and service. He is a past president of the Lethbridge Y’s Men’s Club and is currently an active member of the Lions Club of West Lethbridge. He has also contributed by sitting on boards for major community initiatives, including the Lethbridge Polytechnic “Making Dreams Real” campaign and the Clayton Allan Wine Auction “Possibilities Are Endless” campaign, which successfully raised $27.8 million for a new Trades and Technology facility.
Norris is committed to building lasting relationships and delivering thoughtful, client-focused solutions that support organizational success and employee well-being.
Patricia Walls
BA Psych
Admin Support & Client Services

Patricia brings 25 years of experience in the health care industry to her role in Client Services and Relations at Alberta Workplace Solutions. Raised in Southern Alberta, she is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge and is known for her people-first approach and commitment to building strong, lasting relationships. When she is not in the office, Patricia enjoys staying active through many activities, travelling, and values quality family time. She also loves having fun with friends and, most of all, spending time as a proud Oma. Her favourite motto is “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do”.
Karen Hanson
Group Administration

Karen has been an integral part of the Alberta Workplace Solutions Inc. team since 2006 when her former employer, Alastair Maclean, merged his group insurance business into the company. From day one, Karen brought with her a strong foundation of experience gained in a fast-paced Vancouver brokerage firm, where she worked as a young administrator and trading assistant soon after graduation. That early exposure to complex client needs and tight timelines helped shape the exceptional organizational and client service skills she is known for today. Her experience working in several administrative capacities over the years has been extremely useful in her role at Alberta Workplace Solutions. Since joining the firm in 2006, Karen has worked closely with group clients of all sizes, developing lasting relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and follow-through. She is widely recognized as the team’s go-to problem solver.
